Today, together with the students and teachers from the Valeriu D. Cotea Vidra School, the winners of the 2023 edition of the interschool competition „Bugs and Trees”, we went on a trip to the Putna Vrancea Natural Park. We visited the Cheile Tișiței protected area. After that we went to the Putna Waterfall and the Tudora Vrîncioaia Memorial House, and we also awarded the first and second place winners with a bicycle each.
The contest was addressed to students from grades V-VIII from school units located in the communities of interest for the project (Soveja, Vidra, Paulesti, Negrilești, Tulnici and Nistoresti communes) and aimed to transmit information about the benefits of saproxylic insects species among the young generation, and increasing the degree of acceptance of saproxylic insects among the local population and raising the awareness of the need for actions to conserve these species.
This activity is part of the „Conservation of saproxylic insects in the Carpathians – LIFE ROSalia” project. The project is implemented by the Vrancea county Environmental Protection Agency in partnership with the Association for the Conservation of Biological Diversity ACDB, the Putna Vrancea Natural Park Administration and the University of Bucharest – Center for Environmental Research and Impact Studies and is co-financed by the European Union within the LIFE Nature program and Biodiversity.
In this way, we want to express our gratitude to all the students and teachers for their involvement in the 2023 edition of the interschool competition, „Bugs and Trees”.
