Techniques regarding the use of pheromone traps

03.08.2023

During the period 01-03 August 2023 in Lepșa village and in a demonstration area created in the LIFE ROsalia project „Conservation of saproxylic insects in the Carpathians “ a practical visit was organized to concretely present techniques regarding the use of pheromone traps (capture period; optimal visiting frequencies to ensure the non-lethal nature of the activity; usable pheromones and kairomones; logistical aspects), as well as how the favorable conservation status of pheromon manipulated insect populations can be ensured.

We want to express our gratitude to the many participants who proved eager for information and ideas applicable to the forest ecosystems or protected areas they manage!

The LIFE ROsalia project Conservation of saproxylic insects from the Carpathians (LIFE19 NAT/RO/000023) is financed by the European Commission, being implemented by a consortium formed by the Vrancea county Environmental Protection Agency ,the Association for the Conservation of Biological Diversity ACDB, the Putna Vrancea Natural Park Administration and the University of Bucharest – Center for Environmental Research and Impact Studies.

The aim of the project is to stop and reverse the tendency of habitat loss of saproxylic insects species with an area of the Carpathians, protected by the Habitats Directive, by demonstrating conservation actions to increase the connectivity of favorable habitats in ROSCI0208 Putna Vrancea (Putna-Vrancea Natural Park) and replicating the activities the most suitable in other Natura 2000 sites in Romania. The target species are: Rosalia alpina, Osmoderma eremita, Morimus funereus, Cerambyx cerdo and Lucanus cervus.
